    • She grew up in an isolated village, daughter of the village headsman. She always had a fondness for exploration and adventure, though her family constantly begged her to think more on safety and responsibility. It was difficult to keep her inside, for she always found herself longing for the freedom of the outdoors and the mystery of the unknown. Besides, most things done inside involved sitting still- what kind of monster would force something so horrendous upon a child?
    • When she was young, her father gave her a necklace called Elee d’Eala d’Rii’va or The Eye of the Spirit of Rii’va. He claimed that through it Rii’va’s soul still watched over and protected her people, though Feawin is pretty sure that he made up the story in a desperate attempt to get her to behave. She does believe him when he says it is a family heirloom from before the War- the Stone has a feel of age about it. She would often spend time reflecting, letting herself get lost in the deep blue stone of filled with smoky white swirls.
    • Her younger brother Faelyn practically worshiped her- much to her annoyance. He would follow her everywhere- and of course she would be the one to get in trouble when he wondered off too far on his own. Eventually she saved herself the hassle and started taking him with her. She eventually came to enjoy teaching him the ins and outs of her favorite haunts. There were days though, when she found it necessary to ditch the runt and go off on her own.
    • The day she found Arthmael was one of those days. She had gone further than usual, letting herself wander through more dangerous areas of the forest, when she heard what she thought were cries of pain. The owlbear cub and its mother had been trapped in a mudslide. The mother was dead, and the cub wasn’t too far off. She’d been told they were dangerous, but looking at it she could see nothing other than a helpless child who desperately missed its mother. She weaned it, cared for it, and befriended it. She would visit Arthmael (Artie), bringing it milk and bits of meat. It wasn’t very long before someone from the village discovered her newfound obsession. Her family was furious for bringing such a dangerous creature so near the village, but it was a member of the Council that ordered the execution. She tried to warn him, but she was too small to defend against the Council man’s axe. She vowed to never again fail to protect the ones she loved. Ever since that day it seemed like the could see her friend in the smoky patterns of the stone, and she would often look into the stone, remembering her friend’s playful blue eyes.
    • They came during the night, and that night she learned that it takes more than vows and wishes to protect those you love. She heard a noise like thunder, and woke to find it almost as bright as day outside. Smoke was coming from the roof of her attic room. The village was filled with the sound of death and screams of terror- bandits. As she watched a tall man in gleaming armour rode forward. His skin was a dark blue, and it seemed to gleam in the reflected light of her burning village. In the center of his forehead was a gleaming white circle that Feawin could not help to think looked like Rii’va’s moon. He moved with an unearthly grace and there was a hard, cold look to his eye. This man was no ordinary bandit. He moved past her home, shouting orders that were lost in the wind and roaring flames.
    • She heard a noise downstairs- they were already inside. She woke her younger brother- 6 at the time- and guided him out the small attic window. They jumped and began to run. The village was in chaos, bodies covered the streets and ash choked her breath. They were nearly to the edge of the village when she saw Him again. He sat easily on his horse, turning towards her as a villager’s body slid off her blade. Afraid to look at the face to the person sliding toward the ground, she grabbed a pitchfork, putting herself between the monster and her brother, shouting at him to run away.
    • The man laughed, amused that a puny 10 year old girl would think to stand and fight. She gave a small prayer to her beloved lost friend as he charged, thinking her life over. It was only through sheer luck that his hand was skewered on the tines of her pitchfork. He screamed, dropping his sword. He reared his horse, trampling her. She lay there helpless, several ribs crushed beneath the weight of the horse’s hooves, as he pulled a short sword with his other hand, preparing for the final blow. Then she felt-a flash of light- a pull- as the building next to her collapsed, falling outward. The rider was quick enough to avoid the wall, but she could only watch helplessly as it fell toward her. Her last thoughts before losing consciousness were that the wall was not nearly as heavy as she thought it would be, and it was soft- almost as if it were made out of feathers.
    • She awoke still buried under the building. Her side burned where the horses hooves had hit her, but the skin was unbroken. She should have been hurt far worse. She forced her way out from under the building, and wish herself back under almost as soon as she was out. Not a single building still stood, and the bodies of her people lines the streets. She felt cold, though the night was still warm. Everything around her was still, the buildings weren’t even smoldering. From the corner of her eye, Feawin saw something move. She turned- nothing was there. Faelyn! Did he escape? She saw the body of a child nearby- no it was one of her brother’s friends, but not him. She looked around frantically, and it was then, when she was focused on finding her brother, that she saw Them. Some wandered the town as if alive, occasionally bending down to look at a body. Others hovered over a specific body- either their own or someone they loved. Their broken wails suddenly rang loudly in her ears. Most hovered at the edge of her senses, screaming, crying, watching her. She screamed, curling herself into a ball, wishing they would go away. She felt a comforting warmth at her side. Looking up, she saw a pair of familiar eyes. Artie? It was his spirit, but it seemed more solid than the others around her. With his strength, she pulled herself together. She buried the bodies of her village. She found her parents- dead inside their home, protecting the way up to their rooms. She didn’t find her brother.
  • Travel… meet people that she protects or fails to protect.
  • Arrives at A* discouraged, lost, and doubting herself. Meets Cal who tells her stories of the Jade Lynx. He makes it sound wonderful, and convinces her that she needs companionship, stability. She joins up.
  • more to come
  • If you were to die, would you be willing to be brought back to life? What if you could not be returned to life the way you were, would you accept an “alternate” new form to return as (a spirit possessing your old suit of armor or an undead just to give two examples)? If you were to accept an “alternate” form, what would be acceptable, or not acceptable.
    • her greatest wish would be to be able to move on. while she does not have a god that she follows, she still believes that there is something beyond death. whatever happens, she does not wish to join the spirits wandering the land for eternity.
